Earth, our
only blue sanctuary, has been made fragile by human actions. Inspired by the
urgent need to protect our planet, the CIGA Design Blue Planet collection was
created to embody this message. It urges everyone to listen to Earth’s pulse
and protect our shared home.
Blue Planet on the Wrist
Inspired by
the ancient Silk Road’s cultural heritage, the Blue Planet II captures the
essence of Earth through its intricately designed CNC-carved globe dial.
Representing the beauty of our natural world, this watch enables wearers to
carry the Blue Planet on their wrist while reflecting on humanity’s 2,000-year
journey of civilization.
The Hand-Free Design for an Authentic Experience of Time
CIGA design
reimagines our perception of time, drawing inspiration from the interplay
between day and night, as well as the changing seasons. Inspired by ancient
sundials, the watch features an exclusive asynchronous-follow movement
technology that replaces traditional gears to simulate Earth’s self-rotation.
As a result, a single point displays both the hours and minutes. This provides
a unique experience of time’s passage.
CIGA Design Asynchronous-Follow Movement Technology
Revolutionizing
traditional movement gear ratios, this innovative mechanism features a
stationary hour dial paired with a dynamic minute dial on the same plane. In
this unique configuration, the hour hand moves through a 30° arc while the
minute hand completes a 390° rotation, allowing time to be indicated from a
single reference point.
A Milestone for CIGA Design in Watchmaking
In 2021,
the CIGA Design Blue Planet stood out among 208 global watch entries competing
for 14 prestigious awards. It earned a spot on the stage of the Grand Prix
d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG)—the “Oscars of Watchmaking”— alongside renowned
brands such as Patek Philippe and Piaget. Ultimately, it won the Challenge
Watch Prize. As a trailblazer in the watchmaking world, CIGA design solidified
its position on the global stage with this remarkable achievement.
