Governor Moore Pledges Support After Devastating Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse


ANNAPOLIS, MD – Following the horrific collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland Governor Wes Moore issued a statement expressing his condolences and outlining the state's response.


Governor Moore confirmed his office is in close communication with key officials, including U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, and the Baltimore Fire Department, who are actively engaged in rescue efforts.


To expedite the rescue and recovery operation, Governor Moore declared a State of Emergency for Maryland. He assured the public that the state is working with an interagency team to secure federal resources from the Biden Administration.


Governor Moore offered his deepest gratitude to the brave first responders risking their lives to save others.  He expressed his heartfelt prayers for the safety of everyone involved in this tragedy. The statement concluded with a commitment from Governor Moore to maintain close communication with all entities involved to effectively address this devastating event.
