Saints Shatter Records in Romp of Rider; Secure Massive Win in MAAC Opener

Saints Shatter Records in Romp of Rider; Secure Massive Win in MAAC Opener

The Siena women's lacrosse team had a record-breaking day at Hickey Field on Saturday afternoon, dominating MAAC newcomer Rider 22-4.

This victory marks the largest margin of victory in the program's 28-year history, surpassing the previous record of 17 goals. The Saints also tied the program record for most goals scored in a single game, set in 2019 against Hartford.

Siena's dominance was multifaceted. They controlled the draw controls, winning 26 of 30 as a team. Senior Taryn Asselin set a new program record with 15 draw controls, surpassing the mark she tied earlier this season.

Although Rider boasts the MAAC's top player for draw controls and scorers, Katie Walsh, Siena held her to just two draw controls and one goal.

Offensively, Siena was led by junior Grace Dobrzynski with eight points (two goals and six assists). Junior Kelly Logue surpassed 100 career points with a six-point performance (three goals and three assists).

The Saints led 7-1 after the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring Rider in each subsequent period. Twelve different Saints contributed points, including three players with hat tricks.
